History

After securing all necessary permits, complying with all State required directives and recommendations, and through close cooperation with the Muslim Mortuary and Cemetery Committee (MMCC), the ISOC Mortuary became fully functional in April 2005.

In addition to the Mortuary, a special purpose utility room was also built, and as a result of demand from community members, ISOC has now built an enclosed area, which allows family members to view deceased loved ones prior to burial. Some of the expense incurred throughout this project, was met by generous donations from community members.

ISOC staff makes every effort to ensure that the needs of grieving families are taken care of in a sensitive and dignified manner whilst at the same time, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is carefully documented.

For this purpose, a special area within the new ISOC Office has been set up to accommodate on site the duties of the Funeral Director and where families can sit and discuss funeral arrangements.

We have put together a comprehensive set of Policies and Procedures so that all parties concerned fully appreciate the need to adhere to rules and regulations, some of which are State regulated and other rules are necessary for the smooth functioning of the Mortuary.

ISOC is currently looking into the possibility of purchasing a hearse and we are sure that you will come forward once again and donate towards the cost of this much needed vehicle – currently, the casket is transported in a van.

ISOC offers thanks and appreciation to the dedication and commitment of our Funeral Director, Sr. Nigar Rangoonwala who continues to work so diligently and provides a professional service to families in Orange County.

Community members can now also donate towards a Burial Fund which has been especially set up to help with needy families with the cost of funerals – even for a simple funeral, the cost can be well over $3,000.00 so please consider sending your donations to ISOC. *Please write ‘Burial Fund’ on thememo of your check.
